Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Recruitment 2024 Qualification

General Duty (GD):

  • A degree from a recognized university with at least 60% aggregate marks is required for the Coast Guard.
  • Mathematics and Physics must have been studied up to Intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 scheme or its equivalent.
  • A minimum of 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics is necessary.
  • Candidates who completed graduation after a diploma are eligible, with a requirement of 55% aggregate marks in the diploma program.
  • Physics and Mathematics should be part of the curriculum during the diploma.

Technical (Mechanical):

  • Engineering degree from a recognized university in fields such as Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial and Production, Metallurgy, Design, Aeronautical, or Aerospace with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent qualification in any of the mentioned disciplines recognized by the Institutes of Engineers (India) exempted from sections ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE) is acceptable.
  • Mathematics and Physics must have been studied up to intermediate or class XII of the 10+2+3 scheme or equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in both subjects.
  • Candidates who have completed graduation after a diploma are also eligible, provided they have obtained a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in the diploma program, with Physics and Mathematics included in the curriculum.

Technical (Electrical/ Electronics):

  • Engineering degree from a recognized university in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Communication, Power Engineering, or Power Electronics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
  • Alternatively, an equivalent qualification in any of the mentioned disciplines recognized by the Institutes of Engineers (India) exempted from sections ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE) is acceptable.

Coast Guard AC Recruitment 2024 Selection Process

  • Selection of Assistant Commandants is determined by an all-India order of merit, which relies on candidates’ performance across various stages (I – V) of examination.
  • Successful completion of Stages I, II, III, IV, and V is mandatory for recruitment in the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
  • Biometric, photo identification and document verification are obligatory for all candidates during different stages of the examination process.
  • Details of various stages are as follows:

Stage-I (CGCAT):

  • All candidates for all branches (except law candidates) are required to participate in a computer-based online screening test known as CGCAT.
  • The test will take place in designated centers across India.
  • It consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with four marks awarded for each correct answer and one mark deducted for each incorrect answer.
  • The duration of the test is two hours, and the medium of the test paper is English.

Stage-II {Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)}:

  • Based on performance in Stage I, candidates will be shortlisted for Stage II (PSB), which is a one-day event held at centers in Noida, Mumbai/Goa, Chennai, and Kolkata.
  • Candidates are required to select their preferred PSB center when filling out the application form.
  • Screening in Stage II involves a Computerized Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT) and a Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).
  • The CCBT is conducted exclusively in English and comprises objective-type questions.
  • During PP&DT, candidates are expected to converse and discuss in English, although they have the option to use Hindi if preferred.
  • Stage-II examination is purely qualifying, indicating candidates either pass or fail.

Stage-III: Final Selection Board (FSB):

  • Candidates who qualify for Stage III will receive notification upon completion of Stage II at their respective centers.
  • The schedule for Stage III will be communicated to candidates through their login IDs.
  • Stage III, also known as the Final Selection Board (FSB), takes place at the Coast Guard Selection Board (CGSB) in Noida and lasts for five days.
  • During Stage III, candidates undergo a Psychological Test, Group Task, and Interview (Personality Test).
  • The final selection process is tentatively scheduled to take place between July and October 2024.
  • All documents and certificates verified during Stage II (PSB) must be presented in their original form during Stage III (FSB).
  • A board conference is held on the last day of Stage III, following which recommended candidates proceed to Stage IV, which involves an initial/special medical examination.
